No Water From Your Well? Here’s What to Check

A dead tap rarely means a dead well. Here’s how to narrow it down safely.

Start here (safe checks)

  1. Check the breaker. A tripped well-pump breaker is the number-one cause. Reset it once — if it trips again, stop and call a pro.
  2. Look at the pressure gauge. Zero pressure points to a pump, switch, or tank issue.
  3. Don’t poke at wiring. Well systems run on 230V. Leave electrical testing to a licensed tech.

Common culprits

  • Failed well pump or motor
  • Bad pressure switch (cheap and common)
  • Waterlogged pressure tank
  • Tripped breaker or wiring fault
  • Stuck check valve or a pitless-adapter leak

Most no-water calls are back up and running the same day, because the failed part is a common one we carry on the truck. Don’t let anyone sell you a new well until the pump, switch, tank, and wiring have all been ruled out.
